* Fix: index document versions as their root document
The search index and the LLM index hold root documents only, a root being
indexed with its newest version's content. Every write path therefore had to
remember to hand them the root. Several did not.
WriteBatch.add_or_update, WriteBatch.add_or_update_ids and
llm_index_add_or_update_document now resolve a version to its root themselves.
The reindex command and update_llm_index only walk root documents, and an
incremental LLM update is scoped to the roots of the given ids through
versioning.root_document_ids, which add_or_update_ids shares. more_like_id
returns the root's id for a version. The reprocess task no longer picks the root
for the indexes and only still clears the caches of both documents.
* Fix: rebuild old search indexes and look versions up as their root for similar documents
An index built before versions were indexed as their root can still hold
version entries under their own id and metadata, and only a rebuild clears
them. Bump the schema version so the index is rebuilt on upgrade.
more_like_this_ids looked the given id up in the index as is, so asking for
documents like a version, as the AI suggestions endpoint can, silently found
nothing. It now looks the root up instead.
* Feature: store barcode contents, list and search them
New setting PAPERLESS_CONSUMER_STORE_BARCODE_VALUES (off by default)
stores all barcodes found during consumption with the document: page,
type and content. They are listed on the metadata tab with a copy
button, returned by the documents API and searchable with barcodes:
in the advanced search. Versions keep their own barcodes, reprocessing
reads them again. Refs #9898
* Tests: cover the remaining barcode branches
Covers unchanged and failing barcode reads on reprocessing, unsupported files and DocumentBarcode.__str__, and uses toHaveLength in the barcode list spec as suggested by SonarCloud.
* Address review: keep barcodes when they can't be read, format choices
- Reprocessing and new versions keep the stored barcodes when the file
can't be scanned or the scan fails, and replace them atomically.
- Format is a TextChoices of the zxing-cpp formats, with a test.
- Shared scan code, latest_version helper, TypedDict, serializer reuse.
- Barcodes in the split manifest, export/import tests, pytest-style tests.
* Barcode tests: TIFF reprocess, format check both ways, fixtures
- Reprocessing a TIFF with TIFF support off keeps the stored barcodes.
- The format test also fails when zxing-cpp drops a format.
- Fixtures in place of the sample dir mixin, plugin-level disabled test.
- Format labels aren't translated, OpenAPI enum named BarcodeFormatEnum.
* Review: module-level zxing reader, shorter barcode docs
- read_barcodes_zxing is a module-level function used by scan_pdf.
- Drop the trivial __str__ test, mark it no cover.
- Shorten the barcode docs and remove the duplicate in configuration.md.
* Fix header
* Use utility class
* Return barcodes from the metadata endpoint only
Drop the barcodes field and its prefetches from the document serializer,
as agreed in the review. Also remove the now empty component stylesheet.

* Tantivy: get permissions by chunks
-40% indexing time compared to previous commit
* Make progress bar process one by one with chunk
-15% indexing time compared to previous commit
* Prefetch FK + iterate over chunk from SQL
Prefetch additional needed data (note user, custom field content)
-20% indexing time compared to previous commit
* Reindex: increase Tantivy heap size from 128 to 512MB
Gains probably vary depending on the machine,
but it seems a sweet spot compatible with low-end hardware.
* Reindex: optimization on permission fetching and autocomplete word set
-10% indexing time compared to previous commit
* Autocomplete analyzer python->rust
Splits words with underscore compared to the python analyzer.
E.g.: "blue_print" -> ["blue", "print"]
It can still be found with the "blue_print" keyword,
as the search string is also split in two words.
-50% indexing time compared to previous commit (indexing is twice faster!)
* Index bigram for CJK content only
Inedxing time slightly longer (~3%),
but since the non-CJK content is not indexed,
bigram searchs will be slightly optimized.
* Fix group-based view_document permissions missing from bulk rebuild
_bulk_get_viewer_ids only queried UserObjectPermission, dropping the
group-permission expansion that get_users_with_perms(with_group_users=True)
performs for the non-batched per-document indexing path. A user who could
only see a document via group membership would lose search access to it
after any full reindex.
Also query GroupObjectPermission and expand group membership to user ids,
matching the existing single-document behavior.
* Yield (document, viewer_ids) pairs from _DocumentViewerStream
Previously _DocumentViewerStream.__iter__ yielded plain Document objects
while the matching viewer ids were exposed through a separate mutable
attribute (viewer_ids_by_pk), overwritten each time the generator crossed
a chunk boundary. rebuild() read that attribute out-of-band per document.
This only worked because the current iter_wrapper (a plain progress-bar
passthrough) happens to consume the stream in strict lock-step with no
lookahead. Any wrapper that buffers, batches, or reorders would silently
pair a document with the wrong chunk's viewer ids. Yield the pair directly
so the association travels with the document regardless of how iter_wrapper
consumes the stream, and drop the now-unneeded viewer_ids_by_pk attribute.
* Add --heap-size-mb CLI arg to document_index reindex
writer_heap_bytes was hardcoded at 512MB with no way to tune it. Expose it
as a manual-rebuild-only CLI arg rather than a settings/env var, per review
feedback, so lower-memory hosts can reduce it without a wider config
surface. Defaults to unset so TantivyBackend.rebuild's own default stays
the single source of truth.

* Refactor: migrate exporter/importer from tqdm to PaperlessCommand.track()
Replace direct tqdm usage in document_exporter and document_importer with
the PaperlessCommand base class and its track() method, which is backed by
Rich and handles --no-progress-bar automatically. Also removes the unused
ProgressBarMixin from mixins.py.

* Refactor: add explicit supports_progress_bar and supports_multiprocessing to all PaperlessCommand subclasses
Each management command now explicitly declares both class attributes
rather than relying on defaults, making intent unambiguous at a glance.
