The 19 macOS and 32 Windows jobs ran on every push to every pull request.
They now use the same sets as the Ubuntu jobs:
- PR set (16): four Visual Studio 2022 and two Visual Studio 2026
configurations, ARM64 Debug, Clang 20.1.8 with MinGW, MinGW x86, the
C++20 module test, Xcode 16.0, 16.4, 26.3 and 26.6, C++14 on the
latest Xcode, and the Swift Package Manager check.
- full set (34): every other Visual Studio configuration, Clang
version, clang-cl, Xcode version and C++ standard.
- nightly set (1): 64-bit MinGW, which takes about 68 minutes. A failed
nightly run opens or updates an issue.
No configuration is removed: tools/ci_jobs/ci_jobs.py --compare lists
157 configurations before and after, and all jobs keep their runner,
steps and environment. ci_jobs.py now checks all three workflows and
expands matrices that consist only of include entries correctly.

ubuntu.yml, macos.yml and windows.yml run about 155 jobs on every pull
request, including those that change only the documentation. They now
have a pull_request path filter: it starts with '**' and excludes the
documentation, Markdown files, GitHub metadata, other workflows and the
license files, so a new file runs them unless it is excluded on purpose.
Pushes to develop, master and release/* are not filtered.
The documentation jobs and the REUSE check move from ubuntu.yml to the
new repository_checks.yml, which has no path filter and also runs
tools/check_path_filters. That check keeps the three filters identical
and fails when a file the compiler jobs keep mentions an excluded file.
It found two: tools/check_build_options reads the Meson section of
package_managers.md, and the swiftpm job builds the Swift example from
the documentation; both are included in the filter.

Squashed onto develop from:
- Make the json.tar.xz release archive configure standalone
- Update the supported compiler list and the CITATION.cff repository link
- Add json_fwd.hpp to the Bazel singleheader-json target
- Document SwiftPM's #include <json.hpp> form and add CI coverage
- Migrate REUSE metadata from deprecated .reuse/dep5 to REUSE.toml

* Replace retired macOS 14 runner and test all available Xcode versions
GitHub retires the macos-14 image on 2026-11-02 (brownouts from
2026-10-05). Xcode 15 is not available on any remaining hosted
runner, so drop the macos-14 job and its documented compilers.
Also test the Xcode versions that the images provide but CI did not
use (26.1.1-26.3 on macos-15, 26.4.1-26.6 on a new macos-26 job), and
pin GCC 16 explicitly next to gcc:latest.

* Document new Xcode and GCC versions in the supported compilers table
Versions taken from the CI logs of this PR (Xcode 26.1.1-26.6) and
from the gcc:16 image (same digest as gcc:16.2.0 and gcc:latest).

Add functions for creating tests and to supply test- and
standard-specific build settings.
Raises minimum CMake version to 3.13 in test directory.
json_test_add_test_for(
<file>
MAIN <main>
[CXX_STANDARDS <version_number>...] [FORCE])
Given a <file> unit-foo.cpp, produces
test-foo_cpp<version_number>
if C++ standard <version_number> is supported by the compiler and
thesource file contains JSON_HAS_CPP_<version_number>. Use FORCE to
create the test regardless of the file containing
JSON_HAS_CPP_<version_number>. Test targets are linked against <main>.
CXX_STANDARDS defaults to "11".
json_test_set_test_options(

[COMPILE_DEFINITIONS <args>...]
[COMPILE_FEATURES <args>...]

[LINK_OPTIONS <args>...])
Supply test- and standard-specific build settings.
Specify multiple tests using a list e.g., "test-foo;test-bar".
Must be called BEFORE the test is created.
* Use CMAKE_MODULE_PATH
* Don't undef some macros if JSON_TEST_KEEP_MACROS is defined
* Use JSON_TEST_KEEP_MACROS
Incidentally enables the regression tests for #2546 and #3070.
A CHECK_THROWS_WITH_AS in #3070 was disabled which is tracked in #3377
and a line in from_json(..., std_fs::path&) was marked with LCOV_EXCL_LINE.
* Add three-way comparison feature test macro
* Disable broken comparison if JSON_HAS_THREE_WAY_COMPARISON
* Fix redefinition of inline constexpr statics
Redelcaration of inline constexpr static data members in namespace scope
was deprecated in C++17. Fixes -Werror=deprecated compilation failures.
* Fix more test build failures due to missing noexcept
* CI: update cmake_flags test to use CMake 3.13 in test directory
Also change default for JSON_BuildTests option to depend on CMake
version.
* CI: turn *_CXXFLAGS into CMake lists
* CI: use JSON_TestStandards to set CXX_STANDARD
* CI: pass extra CXXFLAGS to standards tests
* CI: add workflow_dispatch trigger
* CI: change msvc2019*/clang* runners to windows-2019
GitHub updated their runners. windows-latest is now based on Windows
Server 2022 and comes with different tool versions.
MSVC 2019 is still available via the windows-2019 runner.
