json_view: one SIMD macro set with the library
The view's vector code follows JSON_NO_SIMD, like the lexer and the float writer, and skips the CPU check of SSSE3 when the code is compiled for SSSE3 anyway (__SSSE3__), like the lexer. JSON_VIEW_NO_SIMD and JSON_VIEW_USE_SSSE3 and their ABI tags _vns and _vssse3 are removed; they were never released. JSON_NO_SIMD keeps its tag _ns. Signed-off-by: Niels Lohmann <mail@nlohmann.me> |

Let generate_natvis.py cover custom ABI tag combinations (#5880)
Since #5877, the checked-in nlohmann_json.natvis only covers namespaces with up to two ABI tags. The generator gets options to produce a file for other configurations: - --abi-tags TAGS adds the namespaces of one configuration (repeatable) - --all generates every combination of ABI tags - --list-tags prints the tags with the macros that enable them - --output FILE writes somewhere else than the repository root `make natvis NATVIS_ARGS="..."` passes the options through. The default output is unchanged. The options are documented in the generator's README, the debugging page, and FILES.md, and checked in CI. Signed-off-by: Niels Lohmann <mail@nlohmann.me> |

Limit Natvis namespace variants to two ABI tags (#5877)
The generator wrote a namespace entry for every combination of ABI tags, so nlohmann_json.natvis doubled with each new tag. With the 12 tags on develop it had reached 57.9 MB, and one more tag would push it past GitHub's 100 MB file limit. It now covers the default namespace, every single tag, and every pair of tags (versioned and unversioned), which is 158 entries / 1 MB with 12 tags. Taken over from #5868. Refs #5863. Clean up non-code files (#5801)
* Clean up README, contribution guide, and repository metadata - REUSE.toml: fix the Hedley path and SPDX id (CC0-1.0), mark the docset icons as the public-domain JSON logo - CITATION.cff: v3.12.0 was released on 2025-04-11 - FILES.md: list all workflows, describe the Meson option defaults - README: ctest -LE, table of contents, typos, stale Android/MinGW advice, moved links, merge duplicate Thanks entries, list the analysis tools used in CI - CONTRIBUTING: iterative parser, json_literals.hpp is generated, links - .gitignore: backups and release outputs; .gitattributes: mark generated files - labeler: label other build systems and .github documentation - MODULE.bazel: add the module version Signed-off-by: Niels Lohmann <mail@nlohmann.me> * Clean up CI, CMake, Makefile, and Bazel files - CMakeLists.txt: avoid VERSION_GREATER_EQUAL, which CMake < 3.7 lacks - ci.cmake: test JSON_DisableTupleReferenceConversion in ci_cmake_flags, remove unused variables and unreachable per-compiler targets, look up Clang tools consistently, forward CMAKE_CXX_FLAGS to ci_module_cpp20, format json_literals.hpp and remove backups in ci_test_amalgamation - BUILD.bazel: add json_literals.hpp to the single-header target - workflows: format json_literals.hpp before copying it, drop the obsolete natvis --version plumbing, name natvis and macro_builder in failure messages, drop the duplicate amalgamation job, install Valgrind only where needed, republish docs on version bumps, fix stale names - Makefile: complete .PHONY and help, check-amalgamation always restores the checked-in files, natvis uses its own venv, macro_builder_check installs astyle, clean removes the fuzzer binaries - remove tools/amalgamate/config_json_view.json (json_view.hpp is not on develop yet) Signed-off-by: Niels Lohmann <mail@nlohmann.me> * Fix inaccuracies in the documentation - version history: json_base_class_t (3.11.3), JSON_HAS_CPP_11 (3.10.0), JSON_HAS_RANGES exclusions, define-type macros, ABI tags - releases: 3.12.0 raised the minimum CMake version - from_*: the (ptr, len) overloads are deleted, not removed, in 4.0.0 - contains/count/find: document the deleted integral overloads - add JSON_HAS_RANGE_VIEW_CONVERSION and list the JSON_HAS_* macros in the macro overview - mention BON8 and error_handler where binary formats are listed - broken links, outdated URLs, warning count, Hunter v0.26.12 - copy_markdown_source hook: expand snippets in the Markdown copies Signed-off-by: Niels Lohmann <mail@nlohmann.me> * Pass /EHsc to the Windows C++20 module build ci_module_cpp20 now forwards CMAKE_CXX_FLAGS to the module build. The Windows workflow sets CMAKE_CXX_FLAGS, which replaces CMake's MSVC defaults including /EHsc, so <chrono> failed with C4530 under /WX. Remove dead Makefile targets; document macro_builder; tidy serve_header (#5735)
* Remove dead doctest help entry and pretty_format target from Makefile The top-level Makefile still carried three leftovers: - The help text listed a "doctest" target that was removed in #4560, so "make doctest" fails with "No rule to make target". The example check now runs as "make check_output -C docs". - "pretty_format" ran clang-format on all sources, but .clang-format was deleted in #4573, so the target reformatted everything in the default LLVM style, against the Artistic Style formatting that "make pretty" applies and CI enforces. - "clean" removed benchmarks/files/numbers/*.json, a directory that no longer exists since the benchmarks moved to tests/benchmarks (#3462). Only maintainer tooling changes; the library is not affected. Part of #5717 Signed-off-by: Niels Lohmann <mail@nlohmann.me> * Document tools/macro_builder and tidy up serve_header.py tools/macro_builder generates the NLOHMANN_JSON_EXPAND, NLOHMANN_JSON_GET_MACRO and NLOHMANN_JSON_PASTE* macros in macro_scope.hpp, but nothing referred to it. Add a README that explains what it generates, how to run it and where the output goes, and which dependent tables (NLOHMANN_JSON_DOUBLE_PASTE, NLOHMANN_JSON_TYPE_BODY) are maintained by hand. Point to it from a comment above NLOHMANN_JSON_EXPAND. The generator itself is unchanged; following the README reproduces the header byte for byte. In serve_header.py, drop the LGTM suppression (LGTM.com shut down in 2022), replace the """.""" placeholder docstrings with real ones, and import socket and ssl at module level. DualStackServer.server_bind uses socket, which was only imported under __main__; when the module was imported instead, the NameError was swallowed and IPV6_V6ONLY was not cleared. The header change is a comment only; behavior, API and ABI are unchanged. Part of #5717 Signed-off-by: Niels Lohmann <mail@nlohmann.me> * Hash every release_files artifact, not a hardcoded subset The `release` target signed and copied json_fwd.hpp into release_files alongside json.hpp, but the shasum line that writes hashes.txt only listed json.hpp, include.zip and json.tar.xz. Users could not verify the published json_fwd.hpp against hashes.txt. Hash every file in release_files except the .asc signatures instead of naming files by hand, so a newly shipped header (such as the json_literals.hpp that #5610 adds to this target) cannot be missed again. Only affects the generated hashes.txt release artifact; the library itself is unaffected. Overlaps #5610, which touches the same lines to add json_literals.hpp to the release target. #5717 item 1 Signed-off-by: Niels Lohmann <mail@nlohmann.me> * Remove the broken fuzz_testing* Makefile targets fuzz_testing and fuzz_testing_{bon8,bson,cbor,msgpack,ubjson} seeded fuzz-testing/testcases from tests/data, which was removed in |
